Elvis Presley
My Birth
I was born on January 8,1935, in Tupelo ,Mississippi in a poor home along with my twin Jesse . We were born right during the Great Depression, it was a tough time for people all across the United States. Sadly, our birth was very difficult and my twin Jesse died that morning. My parents couldn't afford a hospital for me and Jesse to be born in. They couldn't even afford a gravestone for my brother Jesse. Growing up, I thought about Jesse alot and wondered what it would be like with him as a brother.
Where am I now
Sadly I had already died in my bathroom in my home Graceland. The night I died a friend and I tried playing raquetball but I was too out of shape. I had a very hard time falling asleep so my friend gave me sleeping pills, those didn't work so I took more. August 16, 1977 I was found dead in my bathroom. My poor daughter Lisa was just 9 years old.
My Family
My parents were Gladys and Vernon Presley , I was an only child because my twin brother Jesse died at birth. My dad didn't finish high school and he married my mom when they were only seventeen years old. They didn't have much money and we moved around when dad got a different job. While I was in the army and stationed in Friedberg, Germany, I met Priscilla Beaulieu. She was only 14 years old and her father was a captain in the airforce. Later, in 1967, we got married. On February 1, 1968, our beautiful daughter Lisa Marie was born.
How I Became Famous
It was at church when I was first started singing, and my mom bought me my first guitar when I was 11. When I was in the 8th grade we moved to memphis tennessee. When I was 18 years old I went into a recording studio for the first time and paid $3.98 to record a song for my mom. The first song Mr. Phillips played on the radio was "That's All Right, Mama." After it played more than 100 people called to play it again. I continued to sing more songs and play in concerts for people. I new I was becoming big.
